“Without The Boys and Girls Club of Fitchburg and Leominster I would not be the person I am today. “

Meet Brett

Brett has been attended the Boys & Girls Club for over 3 years.  Brett eagerly shares how the club has transformed his life:

“I have been a member at the Boys and Girls Club of Fitchburg and Leominster for three years. Before the club, I was always going home to an empty house and watching television. The Boys and Girls Club opened many doors for me, both socially and academically. I am able to socialize with peers my own age and enjoy activities that I would not have the opportunity to participate in. I have met many new friends who share the same interest as me and helped me grow as a person.

Without the club, my personal, academic, and leadership development would be different. Before I came to the club I was failing all my classes. Thanks to Mrs.Burgess and the homework club my grades greatly improved. The Boys and Girls Club helped me to become outgoing. Before the club I wasn’t very social. I was shy and quiet. Without the club I wouldn’t be a good leader. Since I attended the club I became a better role model to young people. The club helped me become more talkative and now I am able to talk to people during special events at the club.”

“The Boys and Girls Club has challenged me to be the best person I can be in many ways.”

“One way they challenge me is they push me out of my comfort zone. When I first attended the club I was very shy and didn’t talk to anyone until they pushed me to do it. Now, I talk to everybody. They also challenged me to do my best in school. They push me to do my homework and study everyday.

I am involved in many programs at the club. One of the programs I attended  is The Keystone Leadership Group. In Keystone we run a cafe. We do lots of community service like singing carols to the elderly and helping those in need. Another program I attend is Career Launch. It teaches us about the different jobs and how to get a job. The final program I attend is Robotics. We have six weeks to build a robot then we go to competitions and compete against other teams from across the country.

Without The Boys and Girls Club of Fitchburg and Leominster I would not be the person I am today.

Thank you Mrs.Donata, Jon Blodgett, and Mrs.Burgess for making me who I am today.”
